Introducing the easy F4 based flight controller


The BlueJayF4 is a cheerfully simple ST Microelectronics F4 based Flight Controller.

Why develop a new controller?

There was no simple F4 based board out there at the time to operate in place of the simple F1 based flight controllers. This is the FC designed for those wanting F4 performance but maintaining the F1/3 simplicity - i.e. it comes with non of the extra trimmings - it's bare bones - it's acro you might say .


Features / Specification

  1. Runs Betaflight (v3 and above) a fork of Cleanflight with F4 support
  2. Buzzer output
  3. Voltage Sensor (off battery input)
  4. Has outputs for up to 6 motors (ESCs)
  5. Serial or PPM input (does not support individual PWM channel input)
  6. MicroSD Card support for BlackBox, 16mb on board Flash (Rev3)
  7. Three available hardware UART ports
  8. Built in inverter for SBUS input
  9. Tactile button for booting to STM boot loader
  1. Standard pin headers for the majority of connections
  2. SWD via JST (on the base of the board - connector not fitted)
  3. i2c available via through hole micro pin header
  4. AD via through hole micro pin header for sensor e.g. current
  5. STM32F405 32-bit processor at 168MHz, 1Mb flash, 192kb ram
  6. ICM-20608-G Gyro/Accelerometer connected via SPI (Rev 3)
  7. MS5611 Barometer (optional)
  8. Micro USB connectivity using STM Virtual Communications Port
  9. 36mm x 36mm (standard 30.5mm between mounting holes)
